However, even the best salesman in the world can’t really be expected to sell a failed product at a price point that is way higher than what it could be worth. Sure, you might be able to pull off such a stunt once, or twice, against unsuspecting buyers, but it is still a shot in the dark.
As such, it stands to reason that one of the most important aspects of affiliate marketing is the very first action that you need to take: Picking the right product to sell!
Nowadays there are tons and tons of options out there as far as affiliate products go. With each passing day, new products are created, and affiliates are sought to promote them. Through sites such as Clickbank and Commission Junction, it’s easy to find hordes of affiliate products for practically any niche that you could imagine.
So the issue with finding the right affiliate product is certainly not availability, but rather: Suitability.
In a nutshell, the issue of suitability is one that ties in with two other concepts. Firstly, you need to find a target market and secondly, you need to find out what that target market desires. Put in a different fashion, you could simply say that you need to figure out what is in demand.
To accomplish this, one of the easiest techniques is to simply rely on ‘proven sellers’, i.e. products that are already selling well to a particular market. Needless to say, if a product is popular and is currently selling well, it stands to reason that it should be able to be made to sell well for you too!
Of course, there are alternatives, mostly involving market research, but this is the easiest and quickest way to pick an affiliate product that sells like hot cakes!
